WHO WE ARE

Leadership

DCCDC serves as a brain trust to create structural economic equity in Washington DC, powered by grassroots and academic hands on professionals who operate with wisdom gained from real life experiences. Having a particular focus on Ward 8, our analysis concluded that social services have long been the dominant approach to improving the well-being of native Ward 8 residents.  However, the need for establish commercial economic anchors in Ward 8 through hyper-local, non-extractive, multi-sector, intergenerational partnerships and investments has been overlooked as a necessary element of community wellbeing. Rather most commercial investment in Ward 8 has been in the form of commercial or residential real estate development which creates few long term jobs, and contributes to the steady increase of economic pressures displacing native Ward 8 residents.

WHAT WE DO

Doing Real Things

Our mission: research, develop and implement hyper-local, intergenerational economic equity strategies through strategic partnerships and investments in commercial enterprises which create wealth for native Ward 8 residents rather than extract wealth from Ward 8.

WHY WE DO IT

The Need is Great

We gather unique insights at the grassroots level and curate them for the policy and funding communities.
